The need for green

You may have already seen the Beyond Burger on our menu, but our commitment to making Hubcap Burger Company a local leader in the push for a more sustainable, environmentally responsible food industry doesn't stop there.

The world generates at least 3.5 million tons of plastic and other solid waste per day. That is 10x the amount which was produced a century ago.
It is estimated that by the year 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. These projections are based on a scenario where society proceeds with "business as usual." We want to participate in breaking that cycle. We've beefed up our effort to invest in more progressive packaging which will reduce waste and amplify our positive impact on the world.

Planet friendly packaging

Hubcap Burger Company cups and lids are made entirely from annually-renewable plants, and our straws are made of paper. Sip confidently knowing zero petroleum was used in making of your drink holder and that your straw won’t one day end up in the ocean, where it could harm a curious sea turtle.

Our take out containers may look like your garden-variety to-go boxes from afar, but these sturdy containers are made from rapidly renewable sugarcane fibers. These boxes are safe for both microwaves and short-term freezer storage.

What’s the point of having eco-containers if you’re just going to put them in a regular plastic bag? We wondered the same thing. That’s why we’ve opted for Green Herc biodegradable bags. They offer the same convenience as a traditional plastic bag without the wastefulness and damaging carbon footprint.

Investing in these kinds of food and drink containers helps to keep our planet every bit as nice as your take-out treats. They aren’t just great for the environment, but also the domestic economy, since they’re made right here in the USA.

*Our cups and containers are fully compostable in commercial facilities, not intended for backyard composting.
